Part 2: Are Your Needs Being Met?

IMG_1895.JPG

We tend to look to others to make us happy. This is an impossible task to fulfill or even ask of someone else. Another person should never determine your happiness. That is too much pressure to put on another person.

Only you can make yourself happy. Your significant other cannot do everything. It is selfish and demanding to expect someone to be at your beck and call 24/7.

But you should expect your partner to try to cheer you up after a tough dayon the job. Your partner also should be able to provide you with love and supportwhen you need it.

For a successful relationship, it is important to be awareand respectful of each other’s needs.

Relationships should bring intimacy, happiness and laughter. That’s the upside. The downside is that relationships can bring stress, bad moods and sometimes hardship. It is much easier to love someone when things aregoing great.

However, do you feel the same way about your partner whenyour partner is not emotionally present? There has to be a give-and-take attitude to make a relationship flow positively. There will be instances when one person has to “step up” andgive more support than at other times.

Remember, the key to a successful relationship is hard work and commitment. If your partner does not careenough about the relationship to meet you halfway, you’re about to fall overboard.
